Hello everybody and welcome to my blog. I am in the residential new home construction industry, and being so I now have plenty of free time .( way too much) I kept wondering what I could do to pass the time ( boredom) and finally thought what the heck I have a lot of experience in home construction, why not put that to use, you know vent, rant, rave and go on an on about how miserable my life is, well not so fast I decided that maybe from all my experience I could possibly help other people by passing along some of that knowledge plus take some of the boredom out of my life, sounds good so far. Not, as you can probably tell by now I am no Mark Twain, and I don’t want to be. I just want to impart my personal opinions and years of experience to you in the belief that I just might be able to help make a difference in building your new home.This blog is not going to be another page after page of regurgitated articles put together by another so called expert. I want to offer you my experience and the facts of what is required to build your new home. I want this to be an informative and convenient site where you can come and ask questions and get good honest answers, or at least point you in the right direction.
I would like to state that building your new home is quite an undertaking and requires a lot of time, energy, effort and research, if you don’t have the time to meet with your contractors and suppliers I definitely would recommend hiring a contractor. The old phrase time is money well that applies here more so than other applications, the longer it takes to finish construction the more interest applied to your loan, therefore raising your monthly payment. I don’t know about you but I want my payment to be as low as possible . There are a lot of good contractors wanting your business and really for the services they provide they are well worth it, most contractors usually charge between 7-10%, and some will work for you on a cost plus basis, this also is usually around 7-10%.
I know there is no difference in the percentages I just want you to have an approximation of how much they are trying profit.
